Our Junior Church meets every Sunday morning from 10.30am.
The first 20 minutes is spent in All-age worship in the church, and then
we go into our separate activity groups. There are currently about 30
children on the register, ranging from babes to 16 year olds. The children
and young people are split into 3 age groups: 0 - 4; 5 - 9; 10 plus but
always have a time of sharing and devotions - usually at the end of the
morning session. Once a month, usually the first Sunday of the month,
the children and young people go back into worship for the and celebration
of Holy Communion. It is our policy to allow children & young people to
receive communion, should their parents allow.
The main material for our learning together is 'ROOTS'. This
is a joint churches' initiative, and is supported by Churches
Together in Britain & Ireland along with representatives from
the Churches and church publishers throughout the UK and Ireland.
It aims to provide resource material based on the Revised Common
Lectionary in two magazines, (ROOTS Worship / Children & Young
People) and a web site. The resource material provides instructions
each week for Setting the Scene; Getting Started; Bible Notes;
Use of the Bible; Being Creative and an Activity Sheet, as well
as prayer and music resources. Our Junior Church Leaders adapt
the material according to the needs of the children and young
people in their care. They seek to provide instruction in the
Gospel in a fun, relevant and caring way.
.The Church has adopted 'Good Practice' and has appointed
two Elders to oversee the implementation of the necessary safeguards.
